Esse projeto diminui a reserva legal em propriedades privadas na Amazônia de 80% para 50% e promove o plantio dos chamados cultivos energéticos (dendê, eucalipto, babaçu, cana-de-açúcar e afins) na região, além de permitir que áreas desmatadas num bioma sejam compensadas em biomas diferentes - ou seja, na prática poderá deixar regiões inteiras no país sem mata.Esse projeto está aguardando o julgamento na Comissão de Meio Ambiente da Câmara dos Deputados. Se for aprovado, os responsáveis pela devastação não precisarão recuperar o ecossistema que abateram. Um verdadeiro crime contra a natureza e um desrespeito ao povo brasileiro.
Saiu essa semana uma matéria na revista VEJA denunciando que o desmatamento da Amazônia deslanchou nos últimos meses e está a todo o vapor. Segundo a revista, dados divulgados pelo Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (Inpe) revelam que o desmatamento aumentou em 17% em relação ao ano passado, atingindo uma área equivalente a quatro vezes o município de São Paulo. Por essas e outras que a ex-ministra do Meio Ambiente Marina Silva, decidiu deixar o cargo, admitindo ter dificuldades em conciliar a agenda da política ambiental do país com os interesses do desenvolvimento desenfreado.
